Dokio Portable Panels - Good Value! Unless You Want Weatherproof

This seems like a very quality purchase for the price if you’re looking for a “plug and play” setup. I did a lot of research on solar panels for a long time, and still ended up scratching my head on a lot of it. So, I ended up going with this one.

The 4 panels come in a nice, sturdy, folding briefcase-style case with strong Velcro closures. It does seem a little suspect on durability, but I suppose time will tell. I bought this to keep in my trunk and charge batteries when shore power isn’t an option, so I really feel like for my use case it will last quite some time.

I like that it came with gator clamps to stick directly onto the battery, as that will make it very quick and easy to setup, along with the included charge controller. This setup comes highly recommended by budget vanlifers who don’t have a ton of cash to spend. It isn’t weatherproof when you open it up, so it does lose a little confidence from me there, but let’s be honest, who’s gonna set this up in the rain? There are better products for that.

I really look forward to using this on many boondocking excursions, and I feel very confident in my purchase. I hope this helps!

So far so good

Charges my Ecoflow River 3 quickly—peaked at 156W in the afternoon, which is solid for real-world conditions (most panels rarely hit their full rated power). I run my computer and monitor (about 146W) during peak hours with no issues.

Just a heads-up: you’ll need a stand and tie-downs on windy days. The panel feels a bit delicate, so if you’re rough on gear, consider reinforcing it with an L-channel frame or go for rigid panels instead.

It charged and kept us going

We purchased the DOKIO 220W 18V Portable Solar Panel Kit to work with a Bluetti battery and ICECO cooler. The setup worked well for car camping for three weeks. We could charge phones, a cooler, and iWatch for three weeks between the battery and solar panels. On occasion rainy days, we left the panels in the car and pushed the battery to the limit. The idea was that we did not want to get ice and wanted a cooler the entire time. I moved the panels in and out each day. The panels would top off the battery by early afternoon; then, the battery would run through the night. I packed a small generator as a backup, but we never used it.

Works great!

I bought this solar panel and charge controller to charge the batteries in my off-grid travel trailer and they work great. They start charging even before the Sun is fully up in the sky and by 10:00 am are pumping amps back into the batteries. I especially appreciate the USB ports so you can chagre your phone, smart watch and laptop. Just remember that the watt rating of solar panels is probably set at noon at the Equator so you're not going to get the full 200 watts but that is same for all solar panels. Dokio's 200 watt solar panel is noticeably lighter that another brand I have so that is appreciated.

I highly recommend this

I needed something sensible to power my small fridge when boondock camping. I liked the price and portability as I’m 80 and the weight and folded size works well for me. I can easily tuck it in several areas in my van to protect it. It came complete with everything I needed.
